The quaint urban village is anchored by Cortland Avenue which runs between Mission and Old Bayshore Streets. At the hilltop Bernal Hill offers one of the city's landmark wraparound views. Alemany Farmer's Market (Saturday) and Flea Market (Sunday) deliver with small-town heart. Homes are modest in style compared to central areas of city. The neighborhood took off when folks noticed that Bernal had stood solid in the wake of the 1906 earthquake. TRANSIT
A block away is Folsom and Cortland where the 67 Bernal loop bus which connects to the 24th St BART station Nearby are stops for the cross-town 24 which connects the major transit corridor of Mission Street as well as Old Bayshore both stops feature Limited communter buses for fast transit to and from the downtown.
